                        By Victor Trammell In the wake of the December 14, 2012 mass shooting at Sandy  Hook Elementary School in Connecticut, the nation is devastated once again. It seems as if the ending of human life at the hands of sociopaths h**l bent on delivering maximum carnage is a part of American life. Many questions have been raised about guns, mental illness, and public safety after the Sandy Hook massacre. How could the most unspeakable horror happen in an environment as innocent as an institution of learning for little children? What leads depraved people to such violence? Why are such dangerous weapons easily available to civilians? Sybrina Fulton (pictured above) knows all too well about the terrible sorrow being experienced by parents of children who lost their lives on that fateful day. Her 17-year-old son Trayvon Martin was murdered in a shooting this past February in Sanford, Florida. Her son’s killing caused outrage all across the country, including bringing the contentious gun control debate to the forefront. In an interview with The Root , Fulton spoke out about the recent elementary school shooting and expressed her stance on the issue of gun control in America. She quoted the following in her exclusive interview: “ Guns don’t shoot themselves. The common denominator in all these [mass shooting] tragedies, including the death of my son, is a gun and bad intent. I think gun control is necessary. And we need it now.” (TheRoot.com) Speaking on the tragedy at Sandy Hook Elementary in Newtown Connecticut Fulton said: “I feel bad for the families of these little boys and girls. The parents have a long road of healing ahead.” (The Root.com)
