What's Happening In Your World
The LAPD gun buyback program, held on Wednesday,  offered Ralphs gift cards worth up to $100 for handguns, shotguns and rifles, and up to $200 for assault weapons. Officials collected 1,962 guns,  and it was great to get those guns off the street right? Did I mention that they also collected two rocket launchers?! This is huge, considering that rocket launchers are military grade weapons and are not intended for the general public. Know what’s even more shocking? An official familiar with the gun buyback program says this isn’t the first time the program has netted rocket launchers. The official said of the rocket launchers,  ”we’ve had them in the past.” A police source says the rocket launchers are likely non-working and were picked up by collectors. But what does it say that in America, any old Joe Blow can get his hands on a military weapon? What’s next, tanks? grenades? There were other interesting finds at LAPD’s gun buyback program as well. One man pulled 22 guns from his trunk. Another had a MAC 10 as well as a gun that had been fitted with a silencer. No questions were asked by police, who  just exchanged a gun for a gift card. (If people believe that they’ll be prosecuted, it suppresses turnout to the gun buyback programs.) The Sandy Hook tragedy has forced policymakers to reassess our gun policies. Gun control advocates prefer more regulation, while pro-gun advocates, such as the NRA, would prefer more guns in American life.

  1. Pure BS…those are probably spent rocket launchers used as a prop, maybe for a movie..if they had real rocket launchers, the Federal Government and ATF would have immediately went in…

  2. 1,962 guns turned in…oh yeah and 2 rocket launchers. If people don't think we need need better regulations on gun control they are a fucking fool! Who buys rocket launchers and for what?
