What's Happening In Your World
Your texting skills can affect your relationship. It’s not as if there are good texters and bad texters out there, but like in the real world poor communication skills can affect your relationships with others. Being aware of how your messages are coming across to your partner could even save your relationship. There is a way to over-communicate your feelings, even when you are restricted to only 160 characters. Saying “I can’t stop thinking about you” would scare someone off the same way that e-mailing, writing or whispering it in someone’s ear would. Think up less aggressive ways to share with your partner that you enjoyed their company. Saying “we need to talk” in a text would put anyone on their guard, even if it isn’t a breakup text. Telling someone what you need to talk about before you see them gives them time to prepare themselves for your next meeting. Not telling them anything doesn’t leave them wondering “what did she mean by that?” Sending texts with no context won’t help you communicate your needs. Surprisingly enough, sending guys short text messages can be scary. Most guys are used to receiving longer messages from women and when they receive a simple response like “OK” it leads them to wonder what’s up. If you often send long texts then don’t mix in the short ones unless you are trying to seem mad at him. Saying “I feel like this isn’t going anywhere” is a pretty lame text to send. What are to trying to achieve via text? If you are having issues in your relationship then meet face to face and say it. That text is like digitally pushing someone off a cliff.
