Asa Lovechild:Whitney Houston Added To Grammy Hall of Fame

The recordings of the late Whitney Houston will be added to the Grammy Hall of Fame, for its 40th anniversary. Houston is one of 27 artists whose music will be celebrated this year.  Houston’s self- titled 1985 debut album, will join Richard Pryor’s 1974 “That Nig**r’s Crazy”, the Drifters “On Broadway” , among other timeless recordings. Also added this year, are Ray Charles’s “Hit The Road Jack” and James Brown’s “I Feel Good”

“With the Grammy Hall of Fame celebrating 40 years, it’s especially important to note that these entries continue the tradition of inducting a wide variety of recordings that have inspired and influenced both fans and music makers for generations.” “Memorable for being both culturally and historically significant, we are proud to add them to our growing catalog of outstanding recordings that have become part of our musical, social, and cultural history.”said Neil Portnow, President/CEO of The Recording Academy

The Grammy Hall of Fame collection is made up of 933 recordings. The albums that were selected this year are at least 25 years old or more. They were selected for their historical significance. The massive collection is on display at the Grammy Museum at LA Live.
