About Face: Man Who Swore He’d Keep His Romney Tattoo ‘For Life’ Now Set to Have It Removed

Let’s just put it out there: Eric Hartsburg is an idiot. If you don’t remember Hartsburg, he’s the guy who auctioned off space on the side of his face on ebay for $15,000. The winning bidder, a Republican,  wanted Hartsburg to use the space on the side of his face as a permanent ad for Mitt Romney, and Hartsburg obliged.

Hartsburg had the Romney “R” logo tattooed on the side of his face, and said that because he was a registered Republican and a Romney supporter, didn’t mind getting the tattoo.

Even after Romney lost, Hartsburg vowed to keep the tattoo, saying he had no regrets.

“I’m a tattoo guy, and it was something fun,’ he said. ‘I was trying to make politics fun. I didn’t change no lives; I’m no hero. But I shed blood for this campaign, and I’m glad to know that I did all that I could.”

Now, however, after being offered a free tattoo removal, Hartsburg has had a change of heart.
Hartsburg tells POLITICO he plans to get the tattoo lasered off by a company called DR. TATTOFF, which has agreed to do it for free.
So what changed his mind? Hartsburg said Romney’s comments after the election, about Obama winning because he offered more “gifts”  to the electorate, were the comments of a sore loser, and Hartsburg doesn’t want any association with that.
“It stands not only for a losing campaign but for a sore loser,” Hartsburg said. “He’s pretty shameful as far as I’m concerned, man. There’s no dignity in blaming somebody else for buying votes and paying off people. I can’t get behind that or stay behind that.”

But what about the guy who paid Hartsburg $15,000 to tattoo the Romney logo on his face? Does he get his money back too?

  1. This shows that you should be careful on what you say and do. This was going to the extreeme putting that on his face for the money. Well I guest you will find an idot in all walks of life.

  2. He is now $15,000 richer for his choice. Let him live with that until that tattoo is removed, then he can deal with the guy who paid him.

  3. Didn't he know Romney/Ryan was shameful before getting the tattoo? The entire campaign was built on a House of Cards. Glad that the 47% did not buy into the hype.
