Serena Williams First Comes Love…Engagement…and Now Baby Carriage For several hours, Serena Williams was the top trending conversation on social media and it wasn’t because of a chop shot or a backhand swing. The No. 1 singles Women’s tennis champ seven times in a row has landed another ace–this time motherhood. When news broke that Williams is pregnant, it almost broke the internet especially after she posted a picture of her baby bump on Snapchat Wednesday. A representative confirmed that Williams is 20 weeks pregnant with her first child expected to be born this fall. The father is her fiancee Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian. The couple announced at the end of last year that they were getting married after Ohanian popped the question while they were vacationing in Rome. No word on when the 35 year old will walk down the aisle, if she will be returning to the courts or if she’s ready to be just Mom and wife for a while. Congrats to the Mom and Dad to be!
You Never Had a Friend Like This He saved the world when aliens attacked in “Independence Day”, beat back an AI take-over in “I-Robot” and was a reluctant super hero named “Hancock”, so if Will Smith decides to kick-back and take a role where life and death aren’t hanging in the balance and he can get his laugh on, it’s understandable. Smith is reportedly in talks to reprise a role made famous by the late comedian/actor Robin Williams as the “Genie” in Guy Ritchie’s “Aladdin”. The Disney reboot is in the early stages of casting, but Deadline.com says the “live-action musical… would fit well with Smith who is not only an actor but was known to the world for his musical prowess as The Fresh Prince rapper before he hit the little or big screen.” That’s a good point and Smith has proven he has comedic timing. Perhaps the biggest deciding factor could come down to cold hard cash. The first version of “Aladdin” was the most successful film of 1992 earning over $217 million in the U.S. and topping $504 million worldwide. Disney’s recently released “Beauty and The Beast” has already grossed over $1 billion at the box office.
Add Digital Diva to Shonda Rhimes’ Long List of Accomplishments As if being the brain behind ABC’s biggest hit shows “Scandal”, “Grey’s Anatomy” and “How to Get Away With Murder” isn’t enough, Rhimes decided it time to expand beyond the TV medium and get digital. According to EW.com, the producer/writer/director is now launching a new web site. EW says the lifestyle website will “serve as a digital storytelling platform, providing fans of Rhimes (and her shows) with a full slate of content that will touch on politics, health, style, pop culture, and other issues women care about.” The site will post articles and podcasts to keep subscribers informed entertained. The Shondaland site will go live this fall but you can experience a soft launch next month by signing up shondaland.com
