The beef stems from comments Lil Wayne made during the All Star Game which Trick Daddy felt were disrespectful of his Miami home.
Lil Wayne’s rant basically insulted the Miami Heat, including LeBron James and Dwayne Wade, and ended with Wayne alleging that he’d slept with Chris Bosh’s wife.
Trick Daddy went on 99 Jamz to explain why he felt disrespected by Wayne’s comments:
When their lease is up, they can leave. We’ve got to stick together as radio, as artists, as deejays and fans who love the music as a whole. And that’s what makes a community. Me and Luke been talking, we’ve been getting together, we’re going to find out some type of way to get this thing back on the road — I can’t go nowhere else, this is my home. So from now on, when they get here, they’re going to have to start checking in. They’re going to check in by turning to 99 Jamz and listening to us, what we’ve got to say. They’re taking all of our beats and rapping over them anyway.
Later Wayne apologized…………sort of. He apologized for what he said about Lebron James, but nothing more.
The Broward Palm Beach New Times reports that tensions finally came to a head at the King of Diamonds where Lil Wayne and his Cash Money posse were celebrating Mack Maine’s birthday. When Trick Daddy arrived at the club, he found Lil Wayne and threw a cigarette at his face, forcing Wayne to leave the party under heavy security.
Maybe now, Lil Wayne will be a little more respectful of the folks in his city.
