Herman Cain has officially joined the Fox News team, and comedian Bill Maher wasted no time adding his two cents on why Cain is so happy to be back at Fox.
In a tweet this morning, Maher said Cain’s happiness at being added to the Fox team has more to do with Fox’s lineup of pretty anchors than the former presidential candidate’s political views:
Twitter users wasted no time calling Maher a racist and a s*xist, both of which are charges that have been leveled against Maher in the past.
In an interview with Fox News during the Republican primaries, a woman named Ginger White detailed a 13 year extramarital affair with Herman Cain, even going so far as to offer cell phone records and text messages as proof of the affair. Even though Cain described his relationship with White as one friend trying to help another, it still helped derail Cain’s presidential campaign.
In a statement, Fox News’ executive vice-president of programming Bill Shine lauded Cain as “a valuable addition” to the network. “As a political expert with business savvy, he brings an important voice to the nation’s debates,” Shine said.
“I’m excited about joining the FOX family as a contributor,” Cain was quoted as saying, “because it is an opportunity to be one more voice for intelligent thinking in America.”
What do you think of Maher’s remarks? Did he go too far? Or is it all fair game?
