Two Texas men are accused of robbing a friend at gunpoint and escaping with only one dollar. Randy Chinonso Dike, 25, and Leonardo Taveras, 24, were arrested last Thursday for aggravated robbery after a Feb. 10 incident where they allegedly robbed a friend, only to discover that he had just one dollar in his pocket.
A man told investigators that Taveras called asking for help with his car, but when the man arrived, he was allegedly beaten and robbed by Taveras and Dike.
The Houston Chronicle reports:
A Houston man told investigators he received a call from Taveras, whom he knew by name, sight and voice, asking him to meet with him to help with his vehicle.
When he arrived, Taveras and Dike accused the man of burglarizing an apartment several months before, he told police. The man denied to investigators that he stole from Taveras’ home.
Next a fight ensued, which prompted Taveras to go to his trunk and pull out a shotgun, pointing it at the man’s head. Dike then allegedly rifled through the victim’s pockets , pulling out one dollar and making a fast get away.
Both men have been given $50,000 bond.
