Comedian Chris Rock is in a bit of hot water for using an odd analogy to convince gun advocates that they should pay attention to what President Obama has to say about gun control. Here is what Rock said during a news conference:
ROCK: I am just here to support the President of the United States. President of the United States is our boss, but he is also… you know, the President and the First Lady are kinda like the Mom and the Dad of the country. And when your Dad says something you listen, and when you don’t it will usually bite you on the ass later on. So, I’m here to support the President.
Chris Rock is on Capitol Hill as part of the group DemandAPlan’s effort to push for gun control. The advocacy group supports an assault weapons ban and universal background checks.
In his previous stand-up routine, Rock expressed his feelings on gun control, joking, “Gun control? We need bullet control! I think every bullet should cost $5,000. Because if a bullet cost five thousand dollars, we wouldn’t have any innocent bystander.”
Rock also recently told the Television Critics Association, “The gun lobby also says people need to be able to protect their property. … “But every mass shooting is done by guys who live with their mother. So I believe you should need to have a mortgage to buy a gun. A mortgage is a real background check. Even if you go to jail for 30 years, you’ve still got to pay your f—-king mortgage.”
