After a tearful and riveting performance of America, with the Sandy Hook Children’s Choir, Jennifer Hudson is back to work. Hudson was seen in New York City filming scenes for her Christmas film, Black Nativity. Dressed appropriately for the weather, Hudson could be seen weighed down by large bags, which was all part of the scene.
This is Hudson’s second time back in the Big Apple to film for the big screen. The last time was when she filmed Sex in the City 2. Hudson is no stranger to big screen musicals. The singer won an Oscar for her role as Effie in the film adaptation of Dreamgirls.
Hudson says she is excited to take on this role. Hudson told Chicago Tribune back in December, “It’s a musical and has kind of a Christmas feel to it. All of those things intrigued me and made me want to be a part of it.” Eve’s Bayou director, Kasi Lemmons, has stepped in to direct the piece, which also stars Angela Bassett, Forest Whitaker, and Jacob Latimore. Black Nativity is anticipating a holiday release for winter 2013.
