Every day, in the news, it seems there are more and more people’s lives being ended by guns. In December, it was 27 people including 20 children at Sandy Hook Elementary. In January it was an innocent bystander in a gunfight at a community college in Texas. These were just the highly publicized incidents.
Now in Chicago, Jesse Jackson and other citizens are calling for President Obama to come to the city to push the gun control laws to the forefront, hoping that leaders in the city will see how big of a problem it is and move forward with plans to help. In 2013 alone so far, there have been 42 homicides and 157 shootings just in Chicago. One of the people killed was a teen girl with a bright future who sang at Obama’s inauguration.
