In an anticipated move, Steven Chu, Secretary of Energy, has resigned from his position pending a successor being hired. Chu won a Nobel Peace Prize in 1997 for his work in physics and science. He is also the former director of the Lawrence Berkeley National Lab.
When Chu moved into the political hustle and bustle in Washington, he didn’t seem too comfortable with the position, which is why this announcement has been waiting in the wings. During his career, Chu tried to make the country a more ‘green’ place to live. He ended up loaning $528 million to a company that was called Solyndra, a solar panel company. Solyndra went bankrupt which caused the GOP to fire on Chu for the mistake in judgment.
