Singer Shaggy Says ‘I’m Not Dead’

shaggyShaggy has shut down rumors that he was dead. Contrary to internet reports that claimed the reggae star was stabbed to death in a bar fight this week, Shaggy says it wasn’t him. Rumors were swarming around the internet that Shaggy was stabbed in the liver, during a fight in L.A.

His Wikipedia page was even updated based off of the infamous rumor. This is only one of many bogus reports that Shaggy was deceased. The “It Wasn’t Me” singer was rumored to be dead back in April 2012, as a result of the trending hash-tag, #RIPShaggy. Shaggy’s representatives told TMZ that, “[Shaggy] is like a cat with 9 lives … but I can happily report that he’s alive and kicking and in the same building as me right now as we speak.”

In 2000, Shaggy released the “Hot Shot” album to mega success. The album was certified 6x platinum in the U.S.  “Angel” and “It Wasn’t Me” made the album the success that is was. It was number one on the Billboard 200 and U.K. Album charts. “Angel” would be his last chart topper in the United States.

Shaggy has since started his own record label.
