Hackers Suspected of Working for the Music Industry to Exaggerate YouTube Views

Universal lost a total of 1 billion YouTube video views after the site cracked down on fake views.

YouTube has cracked down on the number of views some of your favorite pop artists have on the video sharing network. Music videos from some of the largest record labels have been removed for violation of YouTube’s Term of Service, Item 4, Section H, which bans artificially inflating view counts.

The crackdown was widely discussed on Black Hat World, a popular forum that visitors use to exchange advice on unethical search engine optimization techniques. Many are questioning whether or not record label executives purchased the services of hackers who are skilled at building SEO via unethical practice.
