In the wake of the December 14, 2012 mass shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Connecticut, the nation is devastated once again. It seems as if the ending of human life at the hands of sociopaths h**l bent on delivering maximum carnage is a part of American life. Many questions have been raised about guns, mental illness, and public safety after the Sandy Hook massacre. How could the most unspeakable horror happen in an environment as innocent as an institution of learning for little children? What leads depraved people to such violence? Why are such dangerous weapons easily available to civilians?
