His Def Jam-backed release has surpassed 500,000 in total number of units sold. The RIAA has certified the album gold under their  sales standards. When an LP reaches 500,000 sales, it is certified as a gold release. An album is considered platinum when it reaches 1 million in sales. An album is classified as diamond when it reaches sales of 10 million or more. The 36-year-old College Park, Georgia native’s album B.O.A.T.S. was released on August 14, 2012. It sold 147,000 copies in its first week of release and has produced chart-topping singles, such as “No Lie” (featuring Drake). The former division one college basketball player used Twitter to make his announcement today. 2 Chainz tweeted: “I wanna thank God ,my fam, my team, fans, djs, taste makers, bloggers & u for your support! WE GOLD now bebe, BASEDONATRUSTORY(BOATS)” B.O.A.T.S. also received semi-favorable  reviews. Adam Fleischer of XXL Magazine said: “Few would propose that 2 Chainz is among the upper echelon of technical wordsmiths, but his lyrics have no less been crucial to his seizing of listeners’ ears, and they remain so here.” (XXL Magazine) 2 Chainz also exercised a presistent mixtape grind to enhance his buzz before his debut. He also appeared on numerous hit singles for other national recording acts, such as “Beez In Da Trap” with Nicki Minaj.
