Chicago: 2 Dead, 14 Hurt in Weekend Violence

In Chicago, it seems that police still haven’t found a way to get a handle on the out of control crime rate in the city. Over the weekend, two people were murdered and 14 were wounded in gun violence.

An off duty officer is currently in stable condition after being shot multiple times during an attempted robbery.  An unidentified  16 year old was taken to the hospital after being shot in the chest. He later died. A second man was killed during a carjacking.

A 15-year-old boy suffered a gunshot wound to the hand in the same shooting, police said.

In addition, CBS Chicago reports on additional violence which occurred over the weekend:

About 3:48 p.m. Sunday in the South Lawndale neighborhood, an 18-year-old woman was shot in the wrist in the 2200 block of South Marshall Boulevard, police said. She was listed in “stable” condition at Saint Anthony Hospital, police said.

About 3:35 a.m. Sunday, a 22-year-old man was shot twice in the stomach during a gang-related attack in the 2200 block of West 18th Place in the Pilsen neighborhood, police said.

And that wasn’t all; another man suffered a gunshot wound to the hand, one man was grazed by a bullet, two were injured in a drive-by, a 26 year old was shot in the back, another man was shot in the leg, a robber was shot in the back, one man was shot in the thigh and another in the buttocks. This all happened over one weekend, a clear indication that violence in Chicago is out of control.
