It’s been a bad month for Kevin Clash, the voice of beloved Sesame Street character Elmo. Two men have already come forward, accusing Clash of engaging in s*xual activity with them while they were underage, and now a third accuser is coming forward.
The third man has announced a lawsuit, accusing Clash of beginning a relationship with him when he was only 16. Like the previous accusers, the third accuser says he met Clash on a g@y chat line.
Jeff Herman, attorney for the accuser, say Clash engaged in “some s*xual activity” with the underage young man during 2003 and 2004.
At first the accuser says he didn’t know who Clash was, but he figured it out from all the Elmo dolls and pictures of Elmo with movie stars around Clash’s home.
Herman also added that his client began writing a book about the affair back in 2009. Pages from the third accuser’s book will reportedly be read at the press conference on Tuesday.
Clash’s second accuser, Cecil Singleton, said he had a relationship with Clash, but also said that it did not become s*xual until he was over the age of 18.
“I was shocked when I found out what he did for a living,” said Singleton.
The first accuser initially settled for cash and then recanted his story, saying he was telling the truth all along and wanted to give the money back.
Clash has already resigned from Sesame Street, saying he was “deeply sorry to be leaving.”
