A hot hip hop beatsmith just got a great new gig. Salaam Remi is veteran music producer who has just been made Executive VP of A&R at Sony Music Entertainment. According to Billboard.biz, the Grammy-nominated sound baron will play a critical role for the major label. He will also serve in positions at Sony subsidiaries, such as Columbia, Epic, and RCA. Salaam Remi’s soulful backdrops have been provided to non-hip hop artists as well. Toni Braxton, Jasmine Sullivan, Corrine Bailey Rae, and the late Amy Winehouse have all sung over Salaam Remi-produced tracks.
