Surprise! Surprise! Seasoned actress Nia Long is set to star in Tyler Perry’s “Single Mom’s Club,” a film that follows four single mothers who form a support group following an incident at their children’s school. The film is slated to release May 2014. Its production is taking place in Atlanta this month.
Long will be one of four leading characters in the film. Many people believe she will be a great fit because she is a single mother of two children. Earlier this year she was criticized for posing on the cover of Ebony Magazine baring her pregnant figure. Many people believed she and the magazine were glorifying out-of-wedlock childbirths, which has statistically proven to be a contributing factor to the demise of the black community.
The 40-year-old mother of two said she asked God for her latest addition to her family. “I honestly asked God for this,” Long said in her interview with Ebony Magazine. “I remember I was driving home from the doctor, and I called [my boyfriend] Ime, and I was like, ‘Babe, I’m really kind of sad right now. The doctor actually said if I wanted to have more children, it would be hard.’ The next time [Ime] came to visit, he said, ‘I don’t believe that.’ I said, ‘You don’t?’ He said, ‘No.’ And I said, ‘Good, me neither.’ Then I got pregnant.”
