A Gallup poll released today indicates that, although Americans are torn along party lines as to whether they agree with President Obama’s
health care law, most still believe that it’s unconstitutional.
Americans are split down the middle on whether Obamacare is a good thing (45%) or a bad thing (44%). However, on whether the law is constitutional, Americans agree that it isn’t. According to the poll, 72 percent of all Americans believe the law is unconstitutional, which includes 56 percent of Democrats who share that view compared to 94 percent of Republicans.
At issue is whether the U.S. government has the right to force individuals to buy insurance from private corporations or risk paying a penalty if they do not. Obviously, the public feels that the government doesn’t have the right to enforce that mandate.
